Discover Twin Falls Idaho

Exploring Twin Falls, Idaho is always a delight for us. Nestled beside the scenic Snake River, this outdoor haven is renowned for the Perrine Bridge, a thrilling BASE jumping site that's a must-see. Lucky to have family as our guides, we've uncovered the city's local spots and experienced exciting adventures.

Fun Fact: Evel Knievel daringly tried to leap across the canyon with a steam- powered rocket in 1974.

Our Home for a Week

Whenever we visit Twin Falls, our go-to accommodation is Rock Creek, offering reasonable rates at $25 per night.

While this campground used to operate on a first-come, first-served basis, they now accept reservations. Despite Allstays failing to update their app, leaving us without reservations, God was on our side as we secured the last available site—site eight.

The catch? It's a 20-ft site, and our fifth wheel spans 36 ft. Graciously, the camp host, empathizing with our situation, encouraged us to give it a try. Thanks to Scott's expert backing-up skills honed over the years, we successfully made it work!

*Plus: There is a nice trail to walk with or without dogs along the river.

Exploring Twin Falls: Must-Try Activities

1. Visitor Center: Immerse yourself in the local area by visiting the Visitor Center. Gather free brochures, enjoy complimentary coffee, and shop for local merchandise. Don’t forget to mark your hometown on their map!

2. Perrine Memorial Bridge: Take a stroll on the bridge or the hiking path below, where you might catch a glimpse of a daring BASE jumper.

3. Centennial Waterfront Park: While closed during our visit due to an invasive mussel, it's usually a fantastic spot to access the water.

4. Herrett Center CSI: Dive into history at this impressive museum; you might even get the chance to try your hand at throwing the prehistoric AdlAdl.

5. Shoshone Falls: Experience the "Niagara of the West" (best during spring, it was dry when we visited).

6. Blue Rock Farm Market: Run by Mennonites, this market offers delicious produce, ice cream, local gifts, and a seasonal pumpkin patch—an absolute must-visit.

7. Dierkes Lake- A nice place for families to swim, kayak, and fish.

Activities Worth the Drive

1. Box Canyon State park: A favorite hike, featuring a beautiful 59-degree water plunge. Opt for descending the canyon near the parking area, but be prepared for a moderately challenging hike up Cardiac Hill.

2. Thousand Springs State park Malad Gorge: Explore this stunning park and walk across the bridge spanning the gorge—a thrilling experience for those unafraid of heights.

3. Thousand Springs Festival of the Arts: In September, check out the Festival of the Arts for unique local goods and food trucks. Otherwise, the short trail to the waterfall is a must-see.

4. Three Island Crossing State Park- Watch a Lewis and Clark video, embark on a museum scavenger hunt, and stroll through the beautiful and informative grounds.

5. Miracle Hot Springs: Don't forget to explore and, of course, check out the alligators!

Where to Eat:

We were lucky enough to enjoy the yummy food that our family cooked for us basically every night but we did eat out a couple of times.

El Tapatio: We got the molcajete and it was delicious.

2nd South Market Food Hall: The brisket from Smokey Bone BBQ with cabbage and bacon was to die for, the sushi from Sushi and Poke Hut was tasty as well.

Cloverleaf Farm Market- their ice cream was the best, also try a Flying Dutchman.

Elevation 486- Yet to experience, but on our list for its prime location along the Rim of the Snake River Canyon. The promise of a scenic view of the river and Perrine Bridge makes it a must- visit.

Our Overall Experience:

Twin Falls captured our hearts with its small-town charm and abundance of activities. For outdoor enthusiasts, it's a true haven.

Our family showered us with exceptional hospitality, transforming our visit into a delightful journey. Treated as if we had personal chefs and tour guides, we felt genuinely loved and cherished.

The love of Jesus shone through our family, emphasizing the importance of presence, generosity, and hospitality to all—be it neighbors or travelers from afar. Amidst the beauty of the Snake River, the rugged canyons, and the warmth of the local community, we were reminded of the essence of our faith and the love of our God.

Bible Verse

1 Peter 4:8-9 ESV

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Reflection:

  • Our friends and family have showered us with remarkable hospitality—home-cooked meals, places to stay, assistance with the kids—the list goes on. It's truly a blessing to be surrounded by such genuine examples of love.

  • One couple, dear friends of ours, embodies the spirit of hospitality. In their home-buying journey, they bought a home with the idea of opening it up to others in mind. Their ministry involves inviting families over, preparing delicious meals, and fostering fellowship—a gift that has led to countless joyful memories.

  • During our travels, we've encountered incredibly hospitable people. God has amazed us with the generosity of those who opened their homes to us.

  • Additionally, we've been blessed to connect with people on the road who invited us into their lives, making us feel like we are a part of their family by demonstrating immense generosity despite not having much materially. These are the kind of people that resonate with our values.

  • Admittedly, I've struggled with anxiety in being as hospitable as I'd like. Concerns about cleaning, cooking, and time have been distractions from the essence of spending quality time with people. It's an area where I aspire to grow, and thankfully, I have wonderful examples to guide me on this journey.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We appreciate the ways your love is revealed through the people in our lives. We desire the compassion and strength to love others where they are, especially those we may find challenging. May you instill in us the desire and ability to open our homes and our lives—cooking, cleaning, caring, and giving, whether in abundance or scarcity. Thank you for the countless blessings you have bestowed upon us; your goodness overwhelms us.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
