Step Two of Our Transformation Journey: Finding an Active Lifestyle that Works!

Despite quick results with the Carnivore diet, we sought a COMPLETE lifestyle change, not just a diet change.

On our journey, we met inspiring older individuals who prioritized an active lifestyle, noticeably benefiting their well-being. We aspire to be like them when we grow up!

Join us on our journey to an active lifestyle while living full-time in our fifth wheel!

Scott gets asked ALL THE TIME what he does for his work outs. For example, we were in Walmart the other day and this guy comes up to him and asks, “Do you fight bro?”

At first this scared me because I thought he wanted to fight, but Scott reassured him that he didn’t and the guy said, “you should! You have fighting legs.” Scott gets comments on his muscular legs all the time. People are shocked when they hear his "leg" routine.

On the other hand, I have always had huge legs, but not so muscular, no matter how thin I was. God just gave me birthing hips and thick thighs.

However, after implementing the Carnivore diet AND consistent exercise, I have noticed a huge change in my hips and legs for the first time in my life.

So what is our work out routine? I thought you would never ask!

We walk.

We walk a CONSECUTIVE and INTENTIONAL five miles a day, taking us anywhere from 1.5-2 hours. This is our daily, no excuses, rain-or-shine routine. Anything on top of that is gravy.

Why walk?

Scott has some serious injuries from his time in service and walking is low impact. We can also walk no matter where we are, helping us to stay consistent. Consistency is key! Our goal is to walk 5 miles, six days a week.

Another bonus to walking is being outside in nature, soaking up vitamin D. It’s also a great way to explore new areas and trails. Sometimes, Scott rucks (walks with a weighted vest).

Other Activities

When we were in Pensacola, Scott got into hanging, an activity that actually feels good on his back. After finding a park, I keep track of the time as he hangs for as long as he can (his goal is two minutes, and he’s almost there!).

He likes to see how many pull ups he can get. I tried it once, and I lasted about 2 seconds, it's harder than it looks!

If we are somewhere that does not have a pull up bar Scott will do 25 pushups every mile which equates to 125/ day. That's it, that is all his routine consists of.

I just walk. It is a bonus when my kids ask to come along! We really learn so much about them during our walks.

We enjoy other family activities one or two times a week, such as pickle ball, paddle-boarding, and mountain biking BUT our goal is to always get a walk in.

Scott also swears by cold dipping! He has been talking about purchasing a portable cold dip contraption.

Learning From the Wise

Most people living this RV lifestyle are of retirement age, and we've gained invaluable wisdom, encouragement, and inspiration from them.

We've seen the clear benefits of staying active, proving that age is just a number. We keep hearing that 60 is the new 40-it’s all about mindset!

Their stories of resilience are invaluable, including the advice to stay active- mind, body, and soul!  How about you? Are you ready to lead a more active lifestyle? A great start is to walk consistently-couldn't be easier!

 Bible Verse

   1 Timothy 4:8 (NIV):

"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

Reflection

  • Paul acknowledges that maintaining our physical health is good and beneficial, holding value. However, he emphasizes that godliness holds much more value.
  • The benefits of physical health are immediate, but the benefits of spiritual health are both immediate AND eternal.

  • Just as we train for physical health, we should dedicate even more effort to our spiritual health

  • If you are anything like me, focusing on physical health can be more motivating because of visible changes, endorphins, and the societal pressure to look good. We must be careful and guard ourselves against vanity.
  • However, my spiritual health takes precedence, although it has not always been this way. Stay tuned for Part 3 of our transformation, which focuses on our spiritual transformation.

Question to Ask Ourselves

Do I spend more time thinking about my physical body or godly living?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for loving me, creating me, and indwelling in me. I want my body to be a perfect temple for you. Help me to remember that my body is your temple and to treat it as such. Help me to keep my mind focused on eternal things. You are so good to me.

 In Jesus’ name, Amen
