Last weekend we were surrounded by pine trees, picnic tables, and the kind of fellowship that slows time down in the best way.
Chain O' Lakes
Our church life group camped together at Chain O’ Lakes State Park, and it was the kind of trip that fills your soul.
Between the trails and the talks, the campfires and quiet mornings, we found space to breathe, worship, and really connect.
Sunday morning’s outdoor church service reminded us how simple and powerful faith can be—just the Word, creation, and community.
Sticks and Bricks
We came home rested—but honestly, for me, rest hasn’t always come easy in this season.
After three years of full-time RV travel, settling into a “sticks and bricks” home was harder than I expected.
I missed the freedom, the adventure, the ever-changing scenery.
I missed how the road stretched my faith.
But through patience—and honestly, a lot of wrestling—God started to shift things.
He gave us community.
New friends.
A church that feels like family.
Ministry opportunities we never could’ve walked into if we were still on the move.
And just when I least expected it, He brought even more adventure—this time, from the other side of the world.
Giving Basics
This week, we had the chance to spend time with several members of our Malawi team—including their director—as they visited the U.S.
And it’s been a joy. Our kids played at the park, ran around at the Y, and hung out over coffee.
In a Sunday School presentation, Stalin shared something that’s stayed with me:
“The number one hurdle in Malawi is hunger. Before we can feed people spiritually, we must feed them physically.”
In Malawi, many kids come to school hungry, if at all. The feeding program makes sure they receive a hot meal every school day. It might be their only meal. But that meal opens doors—to education, to faith, to hope.
Through God’s provision, it’s one of the many ways Giving Basics is helping break the cycle of poverty with dignity and love.
And there’s even more vision unfolding.
Right now, Giving Basics is raising funds to build a Resource Center—a place for vocational training, community development, and deeper discipleship. It’s a big step forward in their mission to equip the next generation with both spiritual and practical tools.
- We’re thrilled to share that $14,500 has already been raised toward our $25,000 matching campaign for the new center!
- That means we’re just $10,500 away from our goal. Thank you so much to everyone who has already given!
- And as always 100% goes to Africa. NOT 100% profit BUT 100% TOTAL!
Memorial Day
This weekend also brought us to Memorial Day—a time to remember those who gave everything for the freedom we now enjoy. And it made me pause:
How are we using that freedom?
To build comfort—or to serve others?
Camping reminded me of simplicity. Spending time with the team reminded me of purpose. It brings me joy to see unity.
It’s a gift to witness what God is doing on opposite sides of the world—and to play even a small part in it.
Thanks for following along with us. Your encouragement, your prayers, and your willingness to learn alongside us means more than you know.
Isaiah 58:11
“The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for guiding us in every season, whether we’re on the move or learning to stay. Open our eyes to the needs around us, both near and far. Teach us to trust You more, to love more deeply, and to walk in obedience even when it’s hard. Be with those who have lost a loved one or who is apart from their beloved service member. Let our lives reflect Your hope.
In Jesus name, Amen.
