As the seasons begin to change here in Indiana, I find myself reflecting on all that has shifted in our lives over the past few years.
For three years, our family lived full-time on the road in our RV, chasing sunsets, meeting incredible people, and learning what it meant to live simply and with purpose.
Now, we’ve settled into a home, and as the leaves start to fall, I can’t help but feel this new season is one of gratitude and reflection on God’s faithfulness.
Mission Updates from Malawi
Words can’t express how thankful we are for all who have supported our friends in Malawi. Your prayers and generosity have made a tangible impact on the ground. Here’s a praise report on what your recent kindness has helped make possible:
📚 Books for St. Patricia’s School have been fully funded!
- 🌱 Ten people have been sponsored for agroforestry training!
- 💧 Irrigation has been funded!
- 👩🏽🎓 Students have been sponsored!
- 🧱 A cement mixer has been purchased!
- 📦 Items from the container continue to be a blessing—just look at the joy in the photo above!
- 🍲 Four kitchens have been funded!
- 🎉 St. Patricia’s is off and running for the 2025–2026 school year!
Every one of these blessings is a testimony of God’s provision through the faithfulness of His people.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
Learning to Slow Down in a Fast-Paced World

When we first moved into our home, we unintentionally slipped back into the fast-paced rhythm of Western culture—the kind that equates busyness with purpose.
After years of living slowly on the road, we had forgotten some of those lessons.
Eventually, the Lord got our attention. It took hard choices and even tears, but once we decided to slow down, our kids said they felt relieved.
That simple comment confirmed that we were walking in the right direction. The burden we’d been carrying suddenly lifted.
As we step into winter, we’re embracing a slower, intentional pace—quiet nights, meaningful conversations, and time to be fully present with one another.
Faith Lessons from the Hard Things
This year hasn’t been easy, but I’m grateful for that too.
Our family has faced challenging situations—ones that brought uncomfortable but necessary conversations.
Through it all, we’ve seen how God uses drama, hurt, and loneliness to grow and shape us, especially our teens.
As a mama bear, it’s not easy to watch your kids struggle and not step in to fix it.
But I’ve had to trust that God’s got it—and He always proves that He does.
Doors have opened for both of our kids because of these challenges. Though more hard moments will come, I know that’s exactly where growth happens.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” — James 1:2–3
Looking Ahead: Missions, Family, and Gratitude

On the horizon, I’m excited to return to Africa, and hopefully visit South America soon.
We’re also planning a trip back to California to spend time with family, reconnect, and celebrate.
Closer to home, we’re looking forward to exploring more of the Midwest this winter, enjoying the outdoors, and finding joy in the simple things again.
Serving in the Hard and Hidden Places
We’re deeply grateful for the inspiring people we’ve met who serve in difficult places—those who go into jails, rooms of addiction, and reach out to the unhoused.
We’ve met others who serve in countries where being a Christian can cost you your life, and friends who open their homes to children from other countries and cultures, or who take children in from neglectful homes and love them as their own.
What a joy it is to have brothers and sisters who open our minds, challenge our comfort, and help us rise to a standard of faith and courage we had never seen before.
Less of me, God, and more of You.
Gratitude for Family, Friends, and Community
Through all of this, my heart keeps returning to gratitude—for family, friends, and even those we haven’t met yet who walk beside us as we live out God’s Kingdom.
Together, we are learning what it means to love our neighbors, support each other in hard times, set healthy boundaries, and do hard things for the sake of growth.
We can do hard things because we serve a faithful God.
A Prayer for This Season
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for every season: on the road, at home, in the waiting, and in the going. Thank You for the lessons You’ve taught us through change, challenge, and community. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on You, to walk with gratitude, and to live at Your pace, not the world’s. Bless our friends near and far. We especially pray for the starving and sick kids in Malawi right now. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in and through us.
In Jesus' name Amen.
