Change a Life – Sponsor a Student For High School

This year, the need for high school sponsorship is greater than ever.

Many children are orphaned or abandoned and face challenges most of us cannot imagine...

Walking long distances to school on empty stomachs, returning home with no safe place to study, or living in difficult circumstances that make education nearly impossible.

We have cases of abuse so heartbreaking I can't mention it on here. There are also cases of children sleeping in bathrooms, some disabled, some small, and some bullied beyond safety.

While we’ve sponsored students in the past through a different organization, we never experienced the joy of truly getting to know them.

However, when we visited Malawi, we had the incredible opportunity to meet almost all the children sponsored through Giving Basics in person.

We talked with them, read the Bible together, saw where they slept, and witnessed the joy of receiving gifts firsthand.

After visiting Malawi, our team, in partnership with Shine Malawi, made the decision to purchase St. Patricia’s, where many of our sponsored students will attend.

Many other students will also attend Embangweni School for the Deaf

Both schools provide safe, nurturing environments for learning, spiritual growth, and personal development.

We trust Shine Malawi completely.

We have met the team personally in Africa and the United States.

Families in villages repeatedly expressed their trust in Shine Malawi—they follow through on their word and truly work to improve children’s lives.

Over seven years, the director of Giving Basics has built a strong friendship with the director of Shine Malawi, creating a rare and meaningful foundation of trust.

Through this program, 100% of your donation goes directly towards your student—covering boarding, teachers, transportation, food, and even pocket money for your student.

A special part of Giving Basics is the personal connection—you’re not just sending support, you’re building a relationship.

And if you wish, you can sometimes see and speak with your student on FaceTime!

Our dedicated Sponsored Student Coordinator personally finds the most vulnerable children, verifies their stories, meets their families, and ensures they are brought into the program responsibly.

We are focused on getting as many students as possible into these two boarding schools, where they will:

  • Eat three nutritious meals a day

  • Have electricity to study safely at night

  • Be protected from the dangers of traveling long distances

Students attend St. Patricia’s Christian School or Embangweni School for the Deaf, where Bible teachings are integrated into daily life.

Devotions and scripture lessons nurture faith, resilience, and purpose alongside academics.

Sponsorship costs about $3.25 a day—less than a cup of coffee.

Payments can be made per term or in full at the start of the year. Once a student is chosen, a QR code for online payment or check instructions will be provided.

The need is urgent. Families have been filing in hoping for sponsorship. Every day without help is a day a child struggles.

If you feel called to help, please contact me first to select a student.

Decisions are needed before September 10—the sooner, the better.

"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." – Matthew 25:40

Heavenly Father,

May you bless every student with hope, safety, and opportunity. And may every sponsor be filled with joy, knowing they are shaping a child’s future forever.

In Jesus' name, Amen

Be the reason a child smiles, dreams, and thrives. Sponsor a student today.
